Our Community Coalition
Preventing youth substance use doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when people who care—parents, educators, youth, professionals, and community leaders—come together to guide young people at critical decision points.
Our coalition exists because no single organization, school, or family can do this work alone. When communities collaborate, prevention becomes stronger, clearer, and more effective.
Thats where you come in.

Why Your Participation Matters
Coalition members are not passive supporters. They are active contributors who help shape how prevention shows up in our community.
By joining the coalition, you help:
-
Bring real community perspectives into prevention efforts
-
Strengthen consistent, positive messages for youth
-
Support families before challenges arise
-
Influence long-term, community-wide change
Whether you bring lived experience, professional expertise, or a desire to help—your voice adds value.

What Coalition Membership Is—and Isn’t
Coalition membership is:
-
Collaborative and respectful
-
Prevention- and education-focused
-
Flexible and role-appropriate
-
Centered on shared learning and action
Coalition membership is not:
-
A heavy time commitment
-
Political or advocacy-driven
-
Clinical or treatment-based
-
About having all the answers
You don’t need special credentials—just a willingness to collaborate and support prevention.

What Coalition Members Do
Participation looks different for everyone. Coalition members may:
-
Attend quarterly meetings
-
Share insight from their sector or lived experience
-
Help identify community needs and priorities
-
Support prevention education and outreach
-
Collaborate with other community partners
Your level of involvement can adjust over time.

Prevention Starts Before a Crisis
Too often, communities respond only after harm has occurred.
Our coalition is working to shift that pattern—by focusing on guidance, engaging education, and informed choice before challenges arise.
Joining the coalition is a meaningful way to be part of that shift, and bettering the community.
What Happens After You Sign Up
Step 1: We Reach Out
After you submit the coalition interest form, a member of our team will contact you to say hello, answer questions, and learn more about your interests and availability. This is a conversation—not a commitment.
Step 2: Learn About the Coalition
You’ll receive a brief overview of our mission, prevention approach, and how the coalition works. We’ll share meeting schedules, participation options, and ways to get involved that align with your experience and interests.
Step 3: Find the Right Fit
Coalition members contribute in different ways. Together, we’ll identify how you’d like to participate—whether that’s attending meetings, sharing perspective, supporting prevention education, or engaging in specific initiatives.
Step 4: Get Connected
Once you’re ready, you’ll be welcomed into the coalition and connected with other members working toward the shared goal of preventing youth substance use and strengthening our community.
There is no obligation to join simply by signing up. Our goal is to create an open, respectful space where participation feels meaningful and manageable.
