I Choose to Be Drug Free, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles through prevention education, community outreach, advocacy, and youth empowerment. Our mission is to educate, empower, and support youth, families, and communities in making informed decisions that lead to healthier, drug-free lives. Through coalition-building, educational initiatives, leadership development, and community partnerships, we strive to create positive and lasting change while reducing the impact of substance use in our communities. Together, we are building safer, stronger, and healthier futures for the next generation.
Why We
Exist
I Choose to Be Drug Free Inc. exists to address youth substance use before it becomes a crisis. Too often, communities respond only after harm has occurred. We believe the most meaningful change happens earlier—when young people are guided, supported, and equipped to make healthy choices.
Our work focuses on prevention, education, and collaboration, recognizing that youth do not make decisions in isolation. Families, schools, and communities all play a role in shaping the paths young people take.
Prevention is not about restriction—it is about opportunity, clarity, and choice.
Meet the Team
Our organization is led by officers who provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and financial stewardship in support of our mission. Together, they ensure that I Choose to Be Drug Free Inc. operates with integrity, accountability, and a clear focus on youth substance use prevention.
Executive Director / Founder
Courtney Morgan
Provides executive leadership and strategic oversight of the coalition. Responsible for overall grant management, compliance with DFC requirements, partnership development, and ensuring alignment between coalition activities and program goals. Oversees performance monitoring, reporting, and long-term sustainability planning.
President / Co-Founder
Lila Star Morgan
Provides executive leadership alongside the Founder in guiding coalition strategy, partnership development, and program implementation. Leads day-to-day operations, including sector recruitment, partner engagement, and coordination of prevention activities. Responsible for facilitating coalition meetings and ensuring alignment between coalition efforts and organizational goals.
Chief Finance Officer/ Co-Founder
Larry Morgan Jr.
The Chief Financial Officer provides oversight of the organization’s financial health and stewardship of resources. This role ensures sound financial management, compliance with nonprofit and grant requirements, and responsible use of funds in support of prevention efforts.
