Who We Are

I Choose to Be Drug Free Inc. is a prevention-focused nonprofit organization working to reduce youth substance use before it begins. We serve youth ages 11–18, parents and caregivers, schools, and community partners by strengthening protective factors, supporting informed decision-making, and creating positive, drug-free pathways for young people.

Our work is rooted in education, early intervention, and collaboration—bringing families and communities together to guide youth toward healthy choices.

Our Four Pillars of Prevention

1. Youth Prevention Education

We provide age-appropriate, engaging education that helps youth build knowledge, confidence, and decision-making skills to resist substance use and choose healthy paths.

2. Parent & Caregiver Education

We support parents and caregivers with practical tools, resources, and guidance to strengthen communication, set clear expectations, and reinforce positive norms at home.

3. Youth Leadership & Peer Engagement

We empower youth to become leaders and positive influencers, creating peer-driven prevention efforts that build connection, responsibility, and community pride.

4. Community Collaboration & Coalition Building

We unite schools, families, healthcare, faith-based organizations, businesses, and civic leaders to address shared risk factors and create lasting, community-level change.

Why Prevention Matters

Prevention works best when it happens early and involves the entire community. By addressing risk factors and strengthening protective environments, we help reduce the likelihood of substance use while promoting healthier outcomes for youth and families.

Our approach focuses on education and guidance—not treatment—ensuring that young people are supported before challenges arise.
